The practice of Witchcraft allows one to develop abilities that transcend the mundane rules of existence, and to enter realms only dreamed of by other folk. This is why the Christian Church was always so opposed to this Occult knowledge, and viciously persecuted its users.

The practitioners of Ophidian Witchcraft take energy from living things: trees, plants, animals, humans, and the Earth herself. This allows the sorcery to succeed, by ensuring an infusion of the life-force into all the entities summoned and created. Yet at other times energy is returned to those entities that have given it, and these are in no way harmed by the process. Rather, the magician and nature enter into a symbiotic relationship from which both benefit. This ability, and many others, will be developed as the initiate passes through the various levels of training in the OAM.
An example of this Occult knowledge is astral projection - the ability to leave the physical body and travel anywhere at will, to visit any time and place, on this plane of existence or any other. Shape-shifting is another ancient practice, transforming oneself into the semblance of any creature, real or imaginary, and possessing the abilities of that creature. This is the origin of the stories of Witches (and their Eastern European counterparts, Vampires) turning themselves into bats or wolves. An essential skill is that of being able to summon or create non-corporeal entities - thought forms - that nevertheless have an actual existence, and which can be employed to do the will of their creator. A sorcerer will create many such entities over the years, but probably the most important is the doppelganger of his or her own self, which will serve as a vehicle of consciousness separate from the physical body, even after death.

Previously, the majority of OAM members received their training by post, as we did not have covens (temples) operating in all areas. The annual membership fee used to be £15, for which the member received full training, plus a quarterly magazine. However, today, due to the larger number of people who joined and the advent of better communication using email, we have adopted a one time payment and Life Membership of £50 and instruction is given over the web or by email. We are attempting to now have a members site for chats between members and a members section, which is encrypted, for any additional training not found in the Order's book, (The Rites and Rituals of Traditional Witchcraft - by the Chief Scribe Tony Steele).
Those members who live in areas where we have covens will, at their request, be put in touch with them. After the first year of training, when the Initiate has reached Second Degree, they will be strongly encouraged to set up a new OAM coven as an integral part of their own magical development - full instructions on how to do this will be given at the appropriate time. Whilst running their coven the Initiate will continue to receive training for the higher degrees.
The OAM has more than 400 members in all areas of the British Isles, and now many overseas. All enquiries should be directed to our Singapore box number, (and not the London one) and must be accompanied by an SAE, or simply email us. We no longer have the time to reply to obviously frivolous mail, but of course will do our best to answer genuine enquiries and obviously those from our members.
OAM Regional Activities

In keeping with Traditional Craft practice, the OAM has a policy of secrecy and privacy. Because of this we will not list any of our regional activities in a public forum such as this web site. Instead, any OAM member who wants to know what is going on in their own locality should write to us directly, quoting their membership number.
If you want to organise something for your area, drop us a line. To run an OAM pub or house moot you simply have to be a current member. To run an OAM study group you have to be at least First Degree and working towards your Second Degree. To run an OAM training coven you already have to be at least Second Degree. Around the world, there are activities going on in the following areas :
